Joyce Jones Guinyard, DC
Joyce Jones Guinyard has nearly 20 years of experience managing programs, providing staff support, providing facilitation and oversight to community coalitions, and assisting community-based organizations build and enhance their internal capacity. For twelve of the fourteen years of its existence, she served as Project Manager for the CDC-funded Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) initiative – REACH 2010 from 1999 – 2006 while at Community Health Councils, Inc., REACH U.S. from 2008 – 2012, and Healthy-By-Default REACH from 2012-2014, both for UCLA. Her involvement in other federally funded initiatives included management of CHC’s Community Integrated Service Systems project (1996-1999), and support of UCLA’s Cancer Prevention and Control Research Networks’ COmmunity Research In Cancer/CORICA project (2006-2014). During this period, Dr. Guinyard served on the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services’ Institutional Review Board, and provided support and oversight to a number of Los Angeles County Department of Public Health projects, including RENEW LAC! (a project of the CDC funded Communities Putting Prevention to Work initiative), the Healthy Weight for Women of Reproductive Age Action Learning Collaborative, Physical Activity and Nutrition Task Force, LA Health COLLABORATIVE, VERB initiative, and the Blue Ribbon Physical Activity Task Force. Dr. Guinyard has a BA from Cal State, Los Angeles, and a DC from Los Angeles Chiropractic College.
