Moira Inkelas, Ph.D., M.P.H.

Moira Inkelas, PhD, MPH, associate professor and assistant director at CHCFC, earned her doctorate in public policy at the RAND Graduate School and her MPH at UCLA, where she is currently assistant professor in residence in the School of Public Health. An integral member of the Center team, she is also assistant director of the Center’s Child and Family Health Program. She recently received funding from the California HealthCare Foundation to evaluate care coordination for children with special health care needs in California’s Medicaid-managed care plans. Funding from the Medi-Cal Policy Institute supports her analysis of new state-level survey data on health care access for chronically ill children and a new survey of Los Angeles parents with chronically ill children.

Dr. Inkelas’ research is primarily concerned with children’s access to health care, tailoring managed care and health care financing policies to the needs of children with chronic illness, the impact of systems on quality and performance, measuring quality of care, and quality improvement.
